Brimming with culture and subtle magic, this sample pack instantly takes you away to the east. As always this inspiring world music sample pack is 100% royalty free and can be used to enrich any production where your imagination will take you.
Recorded by composer Michael Tedstone and musician Max Gittings the pack fuses together an authentic array of Chinese woodwind instruments with modern production recording techniques, capturing the sounds with unmatched accuracy, and containing a wide selection of traditionally influenced samples, loops and one shots.
The collection features;
-Dizi: The most famous of the instruments used, this is a bamboo Flute with a distinctive buzzing timbre which can be found across the length and breadth of China and is the archetypal sound of traditional Chinese music.
-Bangdi: A shrill piccolo Flute used for bright, staccato and lively melodies and found in northern China.
-Gongdi and Bass Bamboo Flutes: Both much rarer Chinese woodwind instruments. Softer on the ears, full of atmosphere and rich in harmonics.
-Bawu: A nine-holed reed pipe with a rich and mellow timbre. Made famous on the soundtrack for Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon.
-Hulusi: Cousin of the Bawu flute, the Hulusi originates in the mountains of Yunnan in south west China. Made up of three pipes which are blown together, it has a unique sound which combines a rich melodic tone with a mystical drone backing.
-Xun: A simple clay Ocarina Flute known for its haunting and ethereal sound. It has very ancient origins-examples of it have been excavated along the old Silk Road in north- western China
-The Chinese Opera Gong: A small Gong with a loud piercing sound originally used to announce characters and emphasise key moments in a traditional Chinese opera production.
-The Chao Gong: A very large instrument with a deep complex sound capable of reaching awesome crescendos.
-Muyu Woodblocks: With their clear, simple and resonant timbre these percussion instruments are used to keep time and define the rhythmic pulse in traditional Chinese music.
