As an international Percussion soloist and also as a guest with the academy of the Berlin Philharmonics amongst other orchestras in Berlin, percussionist Alexandros Giovanos has performed and recorded under some of classical music’s greatest luminaries, including Simon Ratlle, Craig Leon and Vladimir Jurowsky. Safe to say, then, that he knows a thing or two about rhythm, and for his debut sample pack on Looptone, he’s drawn on his years of experience and expertise to put together an essential library of beat-enhancing grooves and lines for house productions of all kinds, using an array of drums and metalwork.

In the hand drums department, 63 bongo and conga grooves can be used individually or combined for an endless variety of Afro-Latin flavoured flows. Then, 82 cowbell and triangle loops bring the funk, while 23 tambourine work-outs play with accent positioning to serve up an intriguing palette of syncopations.

15 Toms loops are perfect for giving four-square beats a rolling rhythmic undertow, or crafting live fills with a drum machine vibe. And for the 40 Staxx hats loops, a tambourine or other cymbal was placed on top of a pair of hi-hats, which were then played with or without incidental bongo hits in the left hand, to form multi-textural top layers ideal for adding life and swing to any electronic house hat pattern.

Every one of Organic House Percussion Grooves’ 223 loops was recorded live in a single take, with no overdubs, capturing the sort of human feel and dynamics that programmed percussion just can’t replicate. The result is a unique, characterful and supremely musical percussive resource for the producer working in any style of house.
