Afro-Cuban Percussion Vol. 01
4 users

Genre: South American

Additional Styles: Percussion

EarthMoments presents Afro-Cuban Percussion Vol. 01, an extensive collection of rhythms and grooves originating from the Caribbean Island of Cuba. The island’s rich history has led to the melting pot of African, Taíno, and Spanish musical traditions. The results are energetic rhythms such as Tumbao, Bembé, Nanigo, Nyabinghi and many more which are all featured throughout this expansive pack.

Afro-Cuban Percussion Vol. 01 includes a wide variety of samples in a range of tempos and styles featuring the congas, cajón, bongos, claves, shaker, and cowbell, all performed by professional Afro-Cuban percussionist, Idan K. Our samples are processed to preserve the organic sound of the instrument, while still providing you with a sonically pure sample so it seamlessly integrates into your productions.

There’s a vast number of lively and danceable rhythmic grooves in this pack to choose from including:

  • Bembé: A rhythmic pattern in 6/8 which serves as the skeletal figure for the percussion.
  • Bombo Mozambique:  A variation of the Mozambique groove, Bombo Mozambique offers rhythms with greater energy and less space.
  • Mozambique: A half-time rhythmic groove with a rumba clave which renews conga lines.
  • Mozambique New York: A rhythmic style featuring a sun clave.
  • Samba: A lively rhythmic pattern in binary meter with constant 16th notes. The first 16th note of each grouping is accented.
  • Rumba: A 4/4 rhythmic figure which serves as a foundation or clave for many other more complex rhythmic patterns.
  • Rumba Columbia: similar to Rumba, Rumba Columbia is a rhythmic pattern but in a compound meter. The accents fall in similar places for both rhythms.
  • Festejo: A fast-paced style in triple meter inspired by Latino African origins.
  • Festacho (Festejo) Del Diablo: A groove in triple meter with an emphasis on the first downbeat followed by syncopated accenting.
  • Nanigo: A rhythm in 6/8 originating from Yoruba tribes of Nigeria.
  • Nyabinghi: Similar to Rumba, Rumba Columbia is a rhythmic pattern but in a compound meter.  The accents fall in similar places for both rhythms.
  • Samba Caboclo: Varied and complex energetic samba patterns.
  • Tumbao: A 4/4 rhythm with consistent 8th notes with accents on the 2, and of 2, 4, and the and of 4.
  • Freestyle: An energetic 4/4 rhythm with a modern latin groove.
  • Funky: 4/4 rhythms with strong accenting which encourage dance.
  • Spanish Rumba: a 4/4 groove whose rhythmic groupings create circular motion.
  • Samba Partido Alto: a rhythmic variation of samba which provides more syncopated accenting.
