When Australian producer Mista Savona connected some of Jamaica's finest musicians with the best Cuba has to offer, two wonderful fusion albums were made. Legendary stickmen like Rodney Barreto and pianist Victor Campbell get live and loose, running things through nothing but vintage analogue gear for that authentic golden era sound. Elsewhere there's wild percussion, fiery horns, more deft drumming and plenty of extra piano, guitar, and bass riffs to lift any track. A rich, rewarding release, offering up a rare chance to pick through the playing of some of Havana and Kingston's most revered musical icons.
