As dark and foreboding as the name suggests, Nightfall successfully brings together the MPC swing of golden era hip-hop with the modern synth work of trap and bass music. The drum loops are super phat – there are only 24 of them, but 17 come with variations – and the 14 hi-hat and cymbal loops fit them well. We love the basslines, which stray into almost EDM territory in places to great effect, and the imaginative keys and synths. It’s a rather disappointing amount of content for the money, though.
