To put us in sofa and zen mode, here’s the second volume of Tranquility by Freaky Loops. Despite the name and the relaxed artwork (and all the clichés that go with it), the harmonic palette is less new age-than it seems. On the contrary, the sonic landscape is very well designed, deep, and of a high cinematic quality. The series offers 222 samples (150 loops and 72 separate elements) alternating between suspended atmospheres, minimal orchestral materials, textured synthesizers, celestial basses and rhythmic impulses. This results in an excellent taste but too short. Hopefully we’ll see the third volume released soon.
